into the wild...

To start with, I am a big big fan of this movie...I mean, I have never been moved by any other movie in my life as this one.
I mean, the depth and the pace is just right to give you a feel of ultimate involvement.
The first thing that gets you
involved is the fact that the protagonist is a college graduate which I'll be in a few years..!!!. And the next thing is that he leaves his home without telling anyone for alaska...that's his dream place.....that's where he wants to go...but on his way....he makes so many friends, experiences the world, the people...the tramps....he calls himself Alexander Supertramp..

I like that sequence in which he talks to the apple he's eating after a long day of trekking through the mountains and appreciates it so much.
'...you are so tasty, so organic...you are the apple of my eye..!!!'
He says the last line really well, taking the half-eaten apple close to his eyes and winking!! That was humorous really!!. Then his relationship with the old, ex-american soldier, who lost his wife and son in an accident and suddenly comes across alex...was really and truly emotional. He makes everyone happy, he meets on his way, but himself suffers the consequences of being out in the cruel world without anything but bare necessities and novels. Like, when he was thrown out of the train and beaten badly, it was quite painful. Another saying from the movie was quite inspiring...
'sometimes in life, it's not necessary to be strong but to feel strong...'
really.. although all of us have somewhere heard this before, but the way it was delivered was amazing...His stay in the 'magic bus' was the most intense and touching thing about the movie...he enjoys it first, then problems come up..he's running out of food, it's cold....all alone among the mountains, he can't continue his journey, spends the time introspecting and reading novels, trying to figure out whether he has achieved what he set out for....but finally when he decides to return he finds that the snow has melted and his way back has been blocked by the mighty river which was nothing but a narrow stream when he came here in the winters...he is disheartened, tries to get himself together but starts losing hope, after all, he's also a human....starts hunting...regrets killing one of the stags as the bulk meat starts rotting ...tries to consult his novels and a few guides on edible plants...but mistakenly, takes poisonous plants and ultimately dies due to that...His last realization was...
'happiness is complete only when shared'
....which was the most touching, because he finally realizes the mistake he did, the grief he caused to his family and to the people he was close to, during his journey...His last moments were the most emotional and heart-melting, I've ever experienced...

Talking about the music...it was Eddie Vedder at his best...the soundtrack, 'hard sun' and 'long nights'..are just too addictive. Hats off to the movie and the director, Sean Penn....

jalpari

I recently heard the song 'jalpari' by Atif Aslam...Most of my friends don't like the beats of it; they say its too repetitive and frustrating; but I find it to give me something which is known as 'music orgasm'...; yup it sounds weird, almost gayish...but still I couldn't find a better lay man term; it probably describes something which makes you forget everything else and lose yourself into the song; gives you the feeling that you are drifting..!!

Also it made me conscious of the term, 'jalpari'....or the underwater angel....wow, i appreciate atif's imagination (if he hasn't copied it obviously..)....i wonder from where he got the inspiration...but the word brought an image of a charming young creature with a very beautiful young face and with fins instead of legs...moving swiftly towards you, deep into the deepest ocean....with ghostly white skin, almost transparent, godly....flowing, slightly golden hair...she's gazing with her eyes which is the most beautiful thing you've ever seen.. green or blue, you cant tell....you are too mesmerized to think..her stare makes you fell in heaven, like you have nothing to worry about now....her soft and tender hands swiftly pass your face, almost touches it...gives you very subtle warmth in the ice cold water..you almost feel her....close your eyes.....you crave for more and try to reach out for her.....but your body becomes stiff, the pressure of water above you feels like all the ocean...you watch her as she starts fading away in the dark waters.....with her body radiating an aura of light and as she recedes, her figure starts dissolving into the hazel of liquid....and the light slowly fades away.....

I wish i could meet one for real....they say, you enter that world when you die....i'll wait until the day i die...but till then I am content with the beauty of this world where I am presently living...and want to enjoy its equally beautiful details and the metaphysical cachets....

a strange meeting....

yup,

So today a very strange thing happened to me. For the first time in weeks I was free in the evening (well, that’s not where the strange thing ends.. :P) I go for classes these days in a summer internship program by a robotics company and believe me, it’s an awesome experience to be there and attend lectures by mind blowing individuals like Shallabh sir and Toshi sir.

But today I returned early at noon, had a nap till evening. And since I was feeling a little stressed , I decided to go out for a walk. Nobody was at home at the time, so I took the keys and went down the road. I hadn't decided on where I wanted to go. I just kept walking to wherever the boulevard(..of broken dreams) was taking me . And suddenly realized, that I have reached the tilak nagar market. Market..Market!!!...Market?!!?, I started thinking, what was that I need to buy.

Then it came to me that a data cable and getting my mobile repaired was in my top priority listings for that weekend. And that’s how I landed up at the District Center. After reaching there I started shuffling through the shops for a data cable. The prices were sky high and certainly out of question considering my pocket size And that’s where the story begins.

So I decided just to take a veg surprise from McDonald as a souvenir. I bought one and since it was really crowded inside (I hate crowded places), I went out and sat on one of the railings enclosing the little green patches of grass scattered all over the main floor. Then suddenly out of the dynamic silhouette of twilight(""I can’t believe i just said that"""), a figure sat beside me and startled me by saying, “hey i need your help”!!

His first glance was that of a smart young man, with glasses on, unshaven for sure, middle class by his outfit and with a smelling air around him. Apart from that, he looked studious, like a book worm. He was talking in English anyways. Nonetheless, considering the status of GAY hood being legalized recently, i raised my eyebrows(”no thanx”)

“I need your help. I haven’t had anything to eat since morning. Can you help me”. I looked down at my hamburger and the two intersecting semicircle cuts, which were the two bites residing in my belly at present. He can’t be a beggar. He wasn’t in rags at least. But when I looked carefully, he wasn’t well dressed at all. As an instinct, I replied. “O really!!!even I haven’t eaten anything and this is the first edible object in my possession since morning”.

He looked at me with indifference. “Oh it’s fine then. Actually, I am a jobless person. I wander around here all day looking for some pity in the hearts of men” ("as if women don’t have hearts")

“But you look so fine. What are your qualifications...”

“Oh well, I have done my matriculation”

The last word looked familiar, but I still asked ” ….as in 12th,…right??”

“no, it’s 10th….it sounds bad when you say 10th…” and then he started leering.

yah, and look at me!!!, why the hell am I sitting here. I like company. But why on earth am I sitting with this strange jobless and homeless(probably), english speaking freako at the DISTRICT CENTRE……haaannnnnnnn????

“But you speak good english”, I wondered.

“yeah, that’s why I tried at BPO’s for a call center job. But was rejected. “

“What happened after 10th, why did not continue??”

“I had to leave for surat due to my grand father’s death, I was afraid I would loose my share of his property and that’s what happened, my sister took all that,.. although she has given me a small share but wants me to stand on my own, i mean i am not totally jobless, I was offered to do a watchman nearby, at 1500 a month ”

Sounds good enough…. “but better something than nothing”, I said.

“O common… just think, if you add 40 bucks for your food per day, it comes to 1200, and then there are clothes, hair oil, soap and a freaking place to live”

O yes, that’s an insight. I looked again at my hamburger waiting to be enjoyed…..that yyuuuummmm…. hamburger i had to make a decision, I started accumulating the parameters for both sides

1. ‘give him the damn hamburger’, this guy needs it, help the poor...dont you remember your morals, haven't your parents taught you anything??!...

2. shut the fuck up, i am hungry and that’s my freakin pocket money...man, आज वैसे ही mood ख़राब है!!...havent even bought a data cable, इतना सारा काम pending h..!!, ऊपर से ये जनाब पता नहीं कहाँ से टपक पड़े हैं!!

I suddenly gave him the hamburger considering that there were far too many parameters to process. Ok... done…..happy now??

“No, i can’t take it. You just said it is your first meal of the day”, he startled me for the second time.

“It’s Ok, i can buy myself another one”.. I managed.

He took the hamburger keeping it halfway between us and stared. (”what now!!!….do you want me to strip naked …..in front of all theseee freaking hooottiiieessss ……haaaaaaannnn?????”) “what now??”, i was getting frustrated by now.

“U take it back”, he said.

“No. I wont be able to eat it, now that I have met you”. Works both ways 'i pity you' and 'you stink man!!'.

“why…… am i so ugly” (”was that supposed to be ffuuunnnyyy….haaannnnn???”)

“blah blah blah, no you eat it I’ll buy another one for me”. Finally done.

“So what do you do by the way” i wondered at the question thrown at me, which startled for the third time. I started searching for an alias that could sound funny. then realized that the thing I do in reality is my best bet to sound funny

“I work for a robotics company and make robots”…haah…isn’t that funny.

He nodded and started thinking.

” I have also decided that, I am gonna start a business”….(”hah…now that’s funny”)

“But wouldn’t that require a lot of capital”.

“no….consider this….i start three पनवाडी shops” (that sell ciggrates, pan and mouth fresheners…blah, blah, blah)

“k.....!!!!!!!!!!!”

“can you imagine how मच a पान वाला over there manages a turnover of….”

“what…”

“1500 a day”

“o my god”

“yeah, just imagine three shops like that and you just sit and earn” (”and we are the motherf**kers studying our arse out all the time”)

“O, I couldn’t have imagined that”, I couldn't have ....seriously!!!!

“yeah you know what…. i closed my brother in a rehab” (”what….what…what….???????”)

“my brother was into drugs, i took him into a rehab” I stared at him now….he could be a drugger too….but this is for the first time that I am confronting a drug-addict or at least a brother of one. I had never imagined there was a rehabilitation center here at Delhi….suddenly an episode of ‘the big bang theory’ flashed in front of me and i saw that small skinny boy who had impersonated the drug addict in the comic episode.

“wow, so you actually have rehabs in delhi”, I was accttuuaalllyyy looking at him now

“yup it’s around sec 24, 25, rohini”

“So do you know how they treat them at rehabs”, I pondered.

“yup, when i used to go to meet my brother, he told me how it was” I was gaining a lot of interest by now. “they lock around 50 people in a large room, equipped with sanitary facilities and a kitchen and a hall ….you get up at 6, get ready by 7:30, and then you have yoga classes, then breakfast and then sessions “

“what kind of sessions”

“I dont know that much, but they try to cure them, they are not allowed to leave, it’s like a prison”

“oh my god” I watched him as he took his first bite eating. And I don't know what happened to me, but i got up and started to leave. “Ok brother, I gotta go to back to work now....boss is gonna be furious.. you enjoy the hamburger” he just gave a slight nod by tilting his head to his right.

He had the same indifferent stare. I turned around and started walking. It seemed odd to me. Our conversation was just getting better but subconsciously, my brain was telling me that “dude, something’s wrong here, m sure you din't wanna continue”!!

It could have been a prank!!!!

A bet between two college mates “100 bucks, if you could make that guy, give his hamburger to you” …sort of ...

It also could have been genuine. you know.... in a city like Delhi, anything is possible.

Whatever it was, it was one hell of an evening. A good detour from the monotone that sometimes clouds your life.

appreciating my n73

hey guys,

Thanks Roopam for inviting me as an author
As you said, we definitely need to take our time out and appreciate the small little things that are present but we seldom feel their importance

I was wondering what I should start with, then realized that my phone was the most precious thing for me. It keeps me connected to my friends and family and it's such an awesome device. I've really started to feel the weight in my hand now.

Well, it's Nokia n73 phone.
It's 3G compatible and I am gonna update my connection in a few days.
The feature most used by me is the 3.2 MP camera, it gives really kewl images and it looks like i took them from a digicam. The Carl Zeiss optics and the shutter adds to it's uniqueness and style.
It has got a great processor of the Symbian S60 series, which allows me download a variety of applications and games on it.
Talking about music, the speaker is really powerful and the headphones precise. And the 2GB card lets me store humongous amount of songs. What's more I recently downloaded terminator on my mobile and enjoyed it with my friends. They couldn't believe they just saw a full movie on a mobile.
I can even read books and open office files with it's in built softwares.

Although, it's a little bulky. But it somehow reflects my personality. I confess, m a little bulky too but I've got great performance (lol).
Nevertheless, I can't live without my n73.

adobe web premium

ok, so I recently got my copy of pirated ‘adobe web premium cs3 ’ suite. When I started installing it, the monstrous size of the setup itself scared me. And considering all the junk my computer had, I was afraid my machine would not be able to handle its size.

But anyways the package was installed and all the cracks copied, time to go testing. The first thing that startled me was the enormous number of softwares included in the package (Later I learned that the adobe creative suite has even more softwares). Even the names of some were entirely new to me. Anyways, I haven't used adobe softwares before.

And as is the basic instinct of mine, 'to tread the unknown', I started a bit of R&D (ok... that's heavy!!!) on the net and here is a list of what-software-does-what in an adobe web premium suite. The following info has been compiled mainly from Wikipedia (it’s awesome) and also some other resources.

Firstly, all the softwares mentioned below have been made in C++. That’s the power of C++. Although, the source code is not freely available as adobe’s softwares are not open source, but still there are ways to extract software codes.

1. Adobe Acrobat This is pdf editing software. And what is a pdf? Pdf stands for ‘portable document format’. As the acronym makes it clear, it's a document format, which is portable and printable. This document format was created by adobe itself back in 1993. But every document format is printable and what does portable mean? Look, I’ll try to give you a rough idea. When you make a document in MS Word it has an extension .doc (.docx for latest versions). But suppose you want to open that file in another computer like in a café computer (to get it printed) only to find that the PC there lacks the correct version of MS Word. The format of the document gets all messy and it becomes a headache. There are other word processors too but they have different ways of handling the layout on the document. Plus there are other issues like whether the font that you have used in your document is also available on other systems. Pdf makes life easy by converting the document, as it is, into a sort of 2D image. So any document format can be converted to a pdf format and handled over different platforms without any loss of layout. Even business transactions these days handle documents in pdf format. It’s easy when you have a common standard…you know!!!! Adobe reader(earlier known as acrobat reader) is a software which just opens any pdf file. It usually does not provide a lot of editing functionalities but you can go through any pdf document and take a print out. Sort of READ-ONLY thing, no more tampering. Adobe acrobat on the other hand is a full fledged pdf editing software, where you can create, modify, join, cut, add bookmarks, add comments, highlight…. and do a hell lot of things with a pdf file and save the changes. Although, If you ask me, which pdf reader I use. I would never opt for adobe reader. It’s damn slow. Go for Foxit reader. It’s much faster. It also has a whole package for pdf creation and editing. There are hoards of other pdf oriented tools available like nitro pdf, but I haven’t used them.

2. Adobe photoshop Well, we all know that this ‘software celebrity’ is an image editing tool. Photoshop runs parallel to image processing both in industrial designing and among hobbyists. Here is some not-so-well-known facts. The software has been designed in C++(can you imaaaaggiiineee!!!). The version ‘adobe photoshop 8’ was renamed to ‘adobe photoshop CS’ (because now adobe was releasing it’s softwares not as stand alone apps but in bundles catering to a particular aspect of multimedia). CS4 is already out in the market (so this becomes the 11th version). This software was designed by a PhD student at the University of Michigan, Thomas knoll on a Macintosh computer. Later he gave a presentation at the silicon valley about his work and the Apple Inc. was more than happy to buy the rights to distribute this software under their name. That’s how Photoshop 1.0 came into being. And since then Apple and Adobe had been into a lot of collaborations (apart from having similar names!!!). Adobe started making Photoshop future versions to Apple systems and later also made it available for other platforms. Ironically, adobe and apple have been rivals in the multimedia segment but image processors for apple OS were made by Adobe. (cute love birds!!!!) Moving ON….

3. Adobe Illustrator This is a ‘vector graphics editor’. What?? Another graphics editor, but we already have Photoshop in our battalion, don’t we?? It’s not that simple my child…. let me explain…. What is vector graphics? It is the use of primitive geometrical elements like points, lines, shapes, polygons,…. to represent a computer graphic. And how is it otherwise done? The other way of interpreting a computer graphic is by breaking it into pixels. This is known as ‘raster graphics’. So we have ‘raster graphics’ and ‘vector graphics’…sounds easy…. So which one’s better? None actually. In come cases, vector approach is easy while pixels are used in other cases. To give you a better feel, do one thing. Try zooming into a normal gif or jpg picture. It gets blurred after a while. Now open any pdf document and now try zooming into the letters, try making it bigger and bigger and bigger. Magic!! It retains it’s clarity. So the later uses vector graphics. That was my perception. So plz tell me if I am wrong.!! Although here I am putting a official differentiating image to get a better idea.
An interesting fact is that adobe illustrator was released before photoshop got famous. So it was from where the journey began.

4. Adobe Fireworks Written in C++, it is also a vector graphics editor.(how mannyyy!!) . But hey, adobe people are not freakos…..are they?? Fireworks has its own cachet. Fireworks or Fw was actually a macromedia product. Macromedia was originally a rival company. In 2005, adobe took over macromedia (and it’s products). So it’s like the modified version of macromedia’s original software. So obviously, it had to be separate. Moreover, it is targeted especially for web designing. Adobe web-designing tools such as Dreamweaver and Flash bond well with fireworks. Although Fw emphasizes on vector graphics, it also provides editing options for bitmap (pixel based) images. Its interface is strikingly similar to Photoshop. Fire works is entirely devoted to web designing needs. It even employs object oriented approach into web designing. No wonder, it is quite famous among the web-tech community around the world.

5. Adobe Dreamweaver Well, this is THE web designing software. Earlier known as macromedia Dreamweaver, its user interface can be described by what is termed as WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). This means, you don’t need to know all the HTML codes. Just put a heading, insert a pic on the left and scribble some text on the right and BANG!!! You just made a website.(blah blah blah, Ok it’s not a website..but a very basic HTML document). Things can be worked out like an ordinary word processor. You can also work in the traditional HTML code environment. Well there is a mammoth of web technologies involved before you can create a website, but still, Dreamweaver makes life simple. I remember using MS Frontpage long time back, which did just the same (gud ‘ol days…!!!). Dreamweaver allows the HTML document to be viewed on locally installed web browsers. It also incorporates ftp clients to transfer files on the server and supports many web languages like AJAX, Action Script, ASP (Active Server Pages)and the list goes on. Such softwares are basically called IDEs (Integrated Development Environment). Although the HTML code can be written in any text editor and can be viewed by web browsers, an IDE provides a support environment which makes writing long and complex code easy by giving preview, detecting errors, debugging, etc.

6. Adobe flash Adobe flash was previously known as macromedia flash. This software is used to add animation and interactivity to web pages. Some common applications are: making ads, animated content, adding videos on web pages….blah, blah, blah This reminds me of a problem with Google chrome. This browser which otherwise looks awesome, has a bug. Recently when I tried to view videos on it, it said it lacks adobe flash. When I went to adobe’s website, the flash versions were available only for IE, Firefox, Opera and Safari browsers. May be there is another way to add flash in chrome, but I am yet to find it out. The scripting language used for flash is known as Action Script. You can manipulate both raster and vector graphics with streaming of audio and video. And flash players are required to play a flash file (or read Action Script). That’s why we need flash player plug-in in browsers to play videos on it. Flash movies or flash games usually have the ‘.swf’ extension which stands for shock wave flash. The .flv video files which most of us have encountered, while downloading videos from YouTube, represent flash video files format. Another ‘kewl’ product from the adobe labs has been ‘Adobe AIR’. It stands for Adobe Integrated Runtime. It is a cross-platform runtime environment through which one can develop rich internet applications (RIA). Now what are these ‘rich internet applications’? They are applications on the web which have most of the features of a desktop application. Like the Google document, which is a web application, has many features of a full fledged desktop application like MS Word. Now there are things known as RIA frameworks. These are things which need to be in your system, if you want to run a RIA. Some of these frameworks are: Curl Adobe flash/adobe flex/adobe AIR Microsoft Silverlight You see, that’s what MS Silverlight is. When I first stumbled upon its name, I thought it was something related to C++ development platform.

7. Adobe Contribute Is also a web content management tool designed to integrate with Adobe Dreamweaver. I don’t know why Adobe has this habit of making different softwares to carry out different tasks on the same work field. Why can’t they just integrate all the functionalities into a single software? Here’s what Contribute can do which Dreamweaver cannot. 1. In browser plug-in: It comes with an browser plug-in. So after installing it, when I started Internet Explorer, I saw a small option on the upper right corner saying ‘edit with Ct’. 2. Workflow management feature: I don’t know what that means!!! 3. Publishing Server: I don’t know what that means either!!!!! That’s a bit confusing. But the real difference could only be found by using it. So more of it to come later, when I use it.

8. Adobe Bridge Yeah, so our Adobe suite was a hell lot of confusion. We have different softwares to develop different components that lead up to an awesome web experience. Adobe bridge helps linking all these data. It’s an organizational program. It does have some cool features of it’s own. After all, that’s why the Adobe people decided to make entirely separate software just for joining different Adobe components. Again, the above was to just get me started with Adobe. If you already use it, do share your expertise (or whatever…!!!), with me.

GSM and CDMA

GSM
Stands for GLOBAL SYSTEMS for MOBILE Communications.
GSM is a protocol for moblile phone operators (like vodaphone, airtel...) and 80% of the phones in the world use GSM enabled operators.
So what's so special about it?

If you have a GSM connection, roaming around the world within networks becomes easy. In GSM both the signaling and the speech system is digital unlike analogue signals which was used in landline phones a few years ago ago(recent landlines systems like TATA walky use digital signaling). GSM was the first standard to implement the SMS service which is now common among many other systems. This standard includes a number 112, which is an emergency number worldwide. So one can call the emergency services in any country without knowing what exactly the emergency number in that locale is.
An interesting is that, even if your phone is locked, and you just dial 112 in succession (ignoring the continuous messages like ‘press unlock and the *’), the phone immediately gives you the option to call there.

Heard of mobile internet?
Well, thanx to the GPRS technology. GPRS or Global Packet Radio Service which allows users to send data even across countries. ( To activate one has to ask his/her operator for the setting which has to be saved) Thanks to GPRS that now mobile internet is nearing stardom. (the most recent attraction is the one month unlimited internet for 98 bucks brought to you by AIRCEL). Another technology EDGE (which stands for Emhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), which is a faster version of GPRS is also gaining momentum.

So what is a cell in the paradigm of network?
Just observe your mobile in standby mode, you'll notice that a place's name always comes up on the screen. This changes when you move from one place to another. This area covered at a time by your network is called a cell e.g., right now I am in janakpuri, B- block cell of my Vodafone network.
In GSM, there are four kinds of network, macro, micro, pico and femto.
A macro network is typically used in rural areas or hilly and less populated regions.
Micro is used in typical urban areas like Delhi. So right now you are using a micro network.
Pico cells have a small range in meters and are usually used indoors, like in a multinational company.
Femto cells are even smaller are used in high tech and sensitive environments such as the famous silicon chip factory in USA.

The maximum distance a GSM cell can cover is 35km radially. So if you calculate the area, pi*(35)^2 ~ 4000m sq.

So what is modulation?
To understand it, let's see what happens when a device sends a message to another remote device.
If you said "hi" on your phone to a friend on the other side. Your phone won't just send a "hi" over the network. It will code it into a stronger wave so that our message is not affected by other waves zooming 24X7 in our environment.
So the way in which you superimpose or code "hi" into the carrier wave is called modulation. There can be many ways of making the carrier wave understand that "Ok listen, I'm trying to say "hi", take the msg and drop it to my friend's phone ", like amplitude modulation and frequency modulation.
In GSM, the kind of modulation used is GMSK (Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying).

Have you ever been in a situation when your phone was kept near a speaker, or TV and suddenly, there was a sound like dit dit-di-dit dit-di-dit-dit, and then you realize that there is an incoming call or an unread sms in your phone.
This is because the GSM signals are so strong that even the solid state amplifiers in the speakers detect it.

GSM also supports 3G technology. But what exactly is a 3G technolgy?
3G is the better known version of IMT 2000 (International Mobile Telecommunications 2000) is a family of standards (a set of rules of how communication is to be done) for mobile communications. It's services include wide-area wireless voice telephone, video calls, and wireless data, all in a mobile environment. Compared to 2G and 2.5G services, 3G allows simultaneous use of speech and data services and higher data rates . Basically this is possible because, 3G uses higher frequencies and hence larger bandwidths are possible.

I'll give you a short summation of how it all evolved:

1. 2G services were mainly meant for voice services and slow data transmission
2. 2.5G came into existence with the introduction of GPRS and hence MMS and internet was now available on mobiles
3. 2.75G was the upgradation of 2.5G with the introduction of EDGE over GPRS and it meant three fold increase in the speed of data transmission over GPRS
4. EDGE can be considered a 3G radio technology. WiMAX and CDMA2000 belong to the 3G standards.

Ok, here comes another question. What is a SIM?
Of course everybody knows, it's that small card that goes inside our mobiles.
But what is it and how is it used?
Ok, so let's start with some full-forms. A SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module.
It has a memory which usually stores the subscriber's info and his/her phonebook. GSM networks keep a track of the user using this SIM card.
Usually if I remove my Vodafone SIM from my mobile and replace it with an airtel SIM, I should be able to use the airtel number…..right?

But some of operators apply a feature known as SIM locking, where a person can use a phone only with the SIM that the operators have provided. I think RELAINCE does that. Even you must have seen Ads of TATA phones and VODAFONE magic box.
But hey!!... remember that this activity is a crime in some countries.

But we are also engineers….right? Now-a-days there are many websites and softwares available to unlock the phone from the 'claws of the SIM card'. You can also contact the operator to do that. They won’t decline you.

CDMA

Stands for Code Division Multiple Access.
It's a channel access method and should not be confused as a category of mobile phones. The mobiles which are referred to as CDMA phones actually employ a special method of transferring data.
Suppose you are sitting in a room with many other people and you want to say something to a friend of yours who is also sitting in the same room. Now there are many methods by which you can communicate with that person with all the other persons speaking simultaneously. This is called multiplexing.

One method is that, time periods are assigned to different people to talk (known as time division multiple access) TDMA. Another way is that people speak with different pitches (frequencies). This is known as frequency division multiple access. (FDMA)
Also it is possible if people speak in different languages. This way people who speak the same language will only be able to understand each other. This is known as Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA).

So that's how CDMA mobile phones communicate with each other.

ONE MORE THING PLEASE, I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS AND CORRECTIONS FROM ANYONE.

some cool stuff

hey listen how many types of video displays are available these days ...right???
So here is some enlightenment.

CRT stands for Cathode Ray Tube
TFT stands for Thin Film Transistor
LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display

CRT monitors are based on cathode tubes which were also the early transistor, so as we advanced transistor were used in them instead of tubes which were bulky. So behind today's modern monitors, there is this whole bunch of semiconductor diodes staring back at you
'THEY ARE WATCHING'

Ok so the last one was easy, but we learnt something didn't we

micro controllers

Oh these are heck of a things

dogpile and google

It is very interesting that I searched for my name in two very famous search engines: dogpile and google

In dogpile, there were total of 20 search results which were of very low use to me. Most of it concerned with my past results.

In google, there were cool results at least and they were of some interest to me. There was my blogspot page and all, although I also have a blog in wordpress. They showed he blogspot one first for obvious reasons.

So which is better: google or dogpile.......ans: google

Yeah yeah I know this is a very small thing i did and reached to such an important conclusion, but that's how it is. This was my first impression and for some like me, the first impression is also the last one.
